A delegation from Manitoba will travel to India seeking to bolster economic ties with the South Asia nation.

The province announced Tuesday it will send representatives to join what the federal government is dubbing the “Team Canada trade mission” in India this week.

The Manitoba delegation includes business leaders and Indigenous leadership, including representatives from the University of Winnipeg, Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs and Agricultural Manufacturers of Canada.

The mission will look to strengthen ties with a shared goal of doubling bilateral trade by 2030, according to the province. It will focus on priority sectors including aerospace and space, clean technologies and energy transition, information and communications technologies, life sciences, products and agri-food.

“India is one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing markets,” Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation Minister Jamie Moses said in a news release. “Strengthening our relationship will help Manitoba businesses reach new customers, attract investment and create good jobs here at home.”

Representatives will participate in business-to-business meetings, investment discussions and networking events with Indian companies, industry leaders and government officials and look to showcase Manitoba’s strengths in agriculture, manufacturing, clean energy, transportation and logistics and innovation, the province said.
