Keystone Agricultural Producers has announced a change in its senior leadership. Jim Smolik has been hired as the organization’s interim executive director, effective Sept. 8.
He replaces outgoing general manager Colin Hornby, who announced his resignation in August and concluded his work at the organization on Monday. Hornby worked at Keystone Agricultural Producers for four years, serving in the GM role since January 2025.
Smolik previously worked with KAP on a contract basis.
He started his career as a third-generation farmer in Dawson Creek, B.C., according to a news release from the general farm policy organization. He left the farm to join Canada’s grain regulatory agency and later became the head of government relations and corporate affairs for a multi-national agri-food and ingredients supplier. Most recently, he was a principal with Osborne Interim Management.
