Hey there, time traveller!

Northumberland County residents are being asked to get ready to start sorting their recyclables.
Beginning Nov. 30, bags of recycling will no longer be accepted with the exception of a dedicated clear or clear blue bag of bags and a clear or clear blue bag of shredded paper.
Residents will need to use their grey and blue recycling boxes and keep their paper and paper packaging separate from their household plastic, metal and glass containers.
Recycling should be put out at the curb/roadside by 7 a.m. on the regular collection day.
The material recovery facility in Grafton processes all recyclable materials.
Here’s what to put in the blue box:
Plastic clamshell containers, such as produce containers (empty and clean)
Aluminum and tin cans and foil (empty and clean)
Glass bottles and jars (empty and clean) with their lids loose in the box
Milk/juice cartons, juice boxes and tetra paks (rinsed)
Take-out coffee cups (lids are garbage)
Empty and dry metal paint and aerosol cans (leave the lid off paint cans).
Here’s what to put in the grey box:
Newspapers and flyers (plastic sleeves go in the bag of bags)
Office paper and envelopes (bag shredded paper in a clear bag)
Magazines and books (hardcovers must be removed and put in the garbage)
Boxboard (cereal, cracker boxes — the liners are garbage)
Corrugated cardboard (flattened and bundled in a size that the driver can lift — 30” x 30” x 10”).
Stuff all plastic bags inside one clear bag.
For other questions about what goes where, visit the county website.
