Two people are in hospital and another two are in police custody after an assault at this Osborne Village bus stop on Osborne Street near River Avenue.
Two individuals, both adults, were arrested by police. There’s no word yet on charges.
Police tape remained stretched across the area in front of the Gas Station Arts Centre through much of the morning rush hour Monday as investigators processed the scene.
Officers had cleared out by 10 a.m., leaving signs of the violence behind near the bus shelter, where a pane was missing and shattered glass remained scattered on the ground.
Police had no further information to share later Monday, including any updates on the status of the victim in critical condition.
The WPS major crimes division has taken over the investigation.
The Osborne Village BIZ declined to comment specifically on Monday’s incident, saying it would be premature without more information from police.
The BIZ said, however, that its members have reported fewer issues and a decline in violent crime in the area, while property crime, including graffiti, has increased.
Monday’s incident also occurred outside the hours covered by BIZ-led community safety ambassador teams, which patrol the Village from 2 p.m. to midnight, offering safe walks, connecting people with services and providing de-escalation support.
Police community foot patrols also operate in the Village, but do not patrol overnight.
