City police have charged a 67-year-old man with three sexual assaults and he is a suspect in an incident involving a group of schoolchildren last week.
The incidents all took place in the Norwood East and Archwood neighbourhoods.
The first occurred shortly before noon on May 25, when a man approached two teenage girls walking near Horace and Des Meuron streets and sexually assaulted both of them. The girls escaped, but the man continued to follow them until they sought help at a nearby school, the Winnipeg Police Service said in a news release Thursday.
A short time later, a man approached a group of young girls out for recess in a schoolyard on the 200 block of Youville Avenue and commented on their appearance. The girls ran away and reported the incident to school staff, WPS said.
Around 12:30 p.m. the same day, a man approached a woman in her 20s who was mowing her lawn in the Archwood neighbourhood and sexually assaulted her. The woman escaped and called police, the release said.
The following day at about 1 p.m., sex crimes investigators went to the 400 block of Edgewood Street and arrested a suspect who was walking outside.
Abdenour Khelifi is charged with three counts of sexual assault. He was released on an order that includes protective conditions for anyone under the age of 18.
A review of court records shows he has no prior convictions in Manitoba.
