MOON ALERT: Caution! Wait until after 2:30 p.m. today to shop or make important decisions. The lunar eclipse in Pisces takes place at 11:18 p.m.

ARIES (March 21-April 19)

Even though there’s some strong energy with the full moon, you can hustle and get a lot done! Don’t go against authority figures. Keep to yourself. Someone younger might help you. Stay busy and you’ll be pleased with the results.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)

Co-workers are supportive, which is why you’ll be productive. However, romance and dealings with your kids might be challenged because of the full moon, which is an intense lunar eclipse. You’ll be forthright and direct in all your communications.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)

You might feel a tug-of-war between authority figures and the demands of home and family. You can’t keep both these areas happy, which means you have to make a choice. Your choice has to be in favour of home and family and your personal life.

CANCER (June 21-July 22)

Because the moon is your ruler, naturally you will feel the energy of the full moon. Be careful, because it could introduce an accident-prone tendency. Therefore, pay attention to everything you say and do. Think before you act.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)

Something to do with your finances might come to a head. As a result, you’ll see there’s a light at the end of the tunnel — and it’s not a train. This can be a productive day! You’re charming with everyone. Be aware of the moon alert.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

The sun is in your sign opposing the moon in Pisces creating the lunar eclipse. This could make you feel something has evolved to a point of fruition. It could pertain to your sense of responsibility for others. It might also deal with a shift in your values.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

This is a productive day! You’re ambitious and the energy of the full moon makes you want to tackle unfinished business because you have lots of brainpower. (Actually, you always have lots of brainpower, which is why many of you are in the legal profession.)

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Issues related to a friend or member of a group might come to a head. If so, you can expect a resolution — one way or another. Whatever happens will probably make you look good in the eyes of everyone, because your reputation is solid this year. Lucky you!

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Dealings with bosses, parents and authority figures might be challenged because of the full-moon energy. You can’t ignore their demands. This could relate to a dispute about your property or shared expenses. Whatever the case, be charming and conciliatory. (Do your friendly-breezy thang.)

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Pay attention to everything you say and do, because this is a mildly accident-prone day for you due to the lunar eclipse. You might find yourself in an argument with someone. Be smart and steer clear of controversial issues. Be patient with spouses, partners and friends.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Financial matters might come to a head. This could be about issues related to a residential move, a job change or both. Or it could be about something incidental. But when money is involved, nothing is incidental, is it? Make sure you have the right facts.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)

The full moon is in your sign, which can make dealings with those closest to you a bit stressed. Be accommodating, but be aware you can be productive and get a lot done!

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY

Actor Aaron Paul (1979) shares your birthday. You are intelligent, tenacious and articulate. You’re also inventive, practical and grounded. This year is the final year of a nine-year cycle. Let go of people, places and things that have held you back. Do some internal and external housecleaning. Focus on being more compassionate and loving to others.

Winnipeg biz owners encouraged to fly the Maple Leaf

A Winnipeg city councillor says business owners should fly the Maple Leaf to bolster Canadian pride as the country fends off a trade assault from the U.S.

“It’s all about being patriotic and showing that we are all on the same page and are unified in our efforts as we negotiate trade with the United States,” said Markus Chambers.

The St. Norbert - Seine River representative launched “Operation Naked Flag Pole” Wednesday.

“I’m seeing flag poles in our downtown area, but they’re not covered with Canadian flags,” he said. “They’re sitting empty. They’re naked. So let’s get them dressed with the Canadian flag.”

Reject roadie role, stick to your own tune

Maureen Scurfield 5 minute read Yesterday at 2:00 AM CDT

DEAR MISS LONELYHEARTS: My girlfriend is a great singer and guitar player, but now she’s gotten in with some male musicians to form a band for playing bars. I’m a drummer, but a terrible one. They found themselves a great one a couple weeks ago, so I’ve been pushed out.

My girl could see I was feeling jealous of her continued band action, so she told me I should still come out to help schlep the equipment to and from the gig. That’s just not happening — I won’t be their lowly roadie to boss around!

So, now what happens to her and I? Let me guess — we break up, and what do you know? The singer guy sees his chance and makes a big play for her. She is a beautiful, talented woman. Help!

Murphy embracing leadership role with Goldeyes

Grace Penner 5 minute read Yesterday at 7:08 PM CDT

A tenure with the Winnipeg Goldeyes was an offer Max Murphy couldn’t refuse.

“I think when I first started playing for the Goldeyes, I was pretty much coming right into my prime,” the 33-year-old veteran said Wednesday before first pitch at Blue Cross Park.

Asked to take a trip down memory lane, the outfielder only had good things to say about his current club, even though the Goldeyes weren’t the first American Association rodeo for the longtime Fish — playing his first three seasons with the St. Paul Saints.

The Robbinsdale, Minn., product started back in 2021 with the Goldeyes, but pinpoints his big breakout moment with the club to the 2022 season when he launched 31 home runs.

E-scooters can be the future — if done right

Mel Marginet 7 minute read 2:00 AM CDT

The summer of 2026 has been the season that e-scooters and e-bikes transitioned from something advocates were predicting would be a big deal to an obvious reality to everyday Manitobans.

The conditions have been right for an uptick — we’re in the midst of an affordability crisis in which more and more people are looking for alternatives to driving. As demand has soared, availability has moved beyond mostly European exports to incredibly cheap options being available on dubious sales platforms such as Temu.

If you’ve been passed by a zooming e-bike or nearly run off the sidewalk by an e-scooter, you’re probably saying “the city ought to have some rules about this!”

Municipalities have been requesting that the province update the Highway Traffic Act for years so that micromobility options, such as e-scooters, can be regulated under bylaws. Provincial legislation that would prohibit riding on sidewalks, set age limits, restrict speed and require helmet use was passed on June 1, but has not yet been proclaimed. This has created the “Wild West” environment we’re in now.
