Disagreements about money and possessions might occur this morning. In fact, your focus on home, family and your private life will increase in the next four weeks. You might need to establish boundaries in some way? (For your own good.)

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Avoid accidents and hasty decisions this morning because you might feel irritated with someone. (Angry distractions are classic for creating accidents.) Meanwhile, prepare for a busy four weeks ahead! Your daily pace will accelerate with a more demanding schedule.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

You might face some conflict this morning related to work, a pet, or your health. Be patient. Meanwhile, later today, the Sun moves into your Money House to stay for four weeks, which will draw your focus to earnings, cash flow and your possessions.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Be patient with your kids today, especially this morning. Likewise, be patient with romantic partners and people you might encounter socially. Later in the day, the Sun enters your sign for the first time in a year where it will stay for four weeks boosting your energy and drive!

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

You like to keep the peace, which is why confrontations can be stressful for you. Therefore, do what you can to promote good feelings at home this morning because difficulties with someone (perhaps a parent or an older family member) might arise.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Steer clear of petty arguments with siblings, relatives and neighbours today because prickly feelings are everywhere this morning. Tread carefully! Meanwhile, later today, the Sun will move into the part of your chart that stimulates friendships and group activities for the next four weeks.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Avoid squabbles about money or possessions this morning because you don’t want to ruin your day. You like positive! Sure enough, later today the Sun moves to the top of your chart making you look great to everyone for the next four weeks! Yay!

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

Today the Moon is in your sign; however, this morning, it opposes fiery Mars, which makes everyone quick to argue or feel irritated. Grrr. Fortunately, this is brief. Late today, as the Sun changes signs, it will encourage travel, adventure and the exploration of ideas. Fun for the next four weeks!

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

This morning you might feel disgruntled about something going on behind the scenes. Or perhaps you feel you cannot express your feelings? Someone younger might be chatty today. Meanwhile, in the next few weeks, your focus on shared property, loans and debts will increase.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Be patient with a friend or a member of a group this morning because conflict with kids and romantic partners might arise. This will pass quickly. Meanwhile, make a note that you will need more sleep in the next four weeks. Respect your need for more rest. In addition, your focus on partners, spouses and close friends will increase.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY

Actor Scott Caan (1976) shares your birthday today. You’re determined, focused, logical and objective. You’re also empathetic to those who are less fortunate. This is a year of exciting change and increased personal freedom. Let go of whatever holds you back. Seek out new opportunities and be ready to act fast. Prepare to travel and expand your horizons.

Generous family home in Bonavista has room to spare

Big families need plenty of space to in order to function at their highest level day-in, day-out.

However, if that space isn’t well-used — that is, if a home’s layout isn’t efficient — then life won’t be nearly as free and easy as it could be.

Consequently, a builder must literally think about how a family would live in a home, and then design it accordingly.

The design team at HomeBrand by AspenGrove Developments did just that with their brand-new show home at 163 Whitehorn Cres. in Bonavista, says Bobby Silman of RE/MAX Performance Realty.

Fair does not mean equal How great managers adapt without playing favourites

One of the most common pieces of leadership advice is also one of the most misunderstood: “Give each employee what they need to perform at their best.”

It sounds simple enough, until you become a manager and discover the minute you treat people differently, someone inevitably says, “Why does she get that?” or “How come he gets special treatment?”

Middle managers often find themselves caught, well, in the middle. Senior leaders expect them to bring out the best in every employee, while employees expect everyone to be treated the same. Those two expectations can feel completely at odds.

The truth is good management has never been about treating everyone identically. It has always been about treating everyone fairly.

‘Depravity is stunning’: Winnipeg couple who tortured, killed animals on dark web sentenced to 12 years

Dean Pritchard 6 minute read Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026

A Winnipeg couple who tortured and killed dozens of cats and other small animals for an online paying audience was sentenced to 12 years in prison Wednesday.

Crown and defence lawyers jointly recommended the sentence for Irene Lima and Chad Kabecz in a case that prompted massive public outrage.

“The depravity is stunning,” said King’s Bench Justice Jeffrey Harris, who banned both offenders from possessing animals for life. “In over 40 years as a lawyer and judge, I have not seen any facts come close to this… I cannot begin to conceive of the suffering of these defenceless animals as you tortured them to death for your own deviant sexual pleasure and profit.”

Lima, 56, crushed the animals to death with her bare feet, while 41-year-old Kabecz recorded the killings, videos of which were shared with paying customers via a chat group where Lima was known as “Goddess May.”

Taylor Allen 4 minute read Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026

Winnipeg Sea Bears guard Teddy Allen has come up short in his bid to win a second career CEBL Most Valuable Player award — and he’s not happy about it.

The league revealed its award winners Thursday, with Scarborough Shooting Stars guard Myles Powell taking home the MVP honours over Allen who was the finalist out of the Western Conference.

Powell, who was also named the Clutch Player of the Year with nine target score winners, averaged 22.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists while leading Scarborough to a historic 20-4 record.

“A dude who averaged 23 on 38 per cent. You will never see me again. Lost ya credibility,” Allen commented on Instagram.

Residents fear mailbox crime sprees

Morgan Modjeski 5 minute read Yesterday at 2:01 AM CDT

Some North End residents are concerned new community mailboxes will become a target for vandalism and crime after the base of one was recently lit ablaze — before it was even installed.

The community mailboxes started to show up on Andrews Street within the last two weeks. Some have been installed, while at other locations, only the concrete foundation is in place.

“They just dumped them on the boulevard,” said Stephen Giesbrecht, who lives beside one of the boxes in the St. John’s neighbourhood. “They dumped them on the corner and then they were gone.”

One of the concrete slabs has already played host to a fire and some of the hardware needed to install the mailbox melted.
