MOON ALERT: Caution! Avoid shopping (except food and gas) and important decisions all day until 6:15 p.m. After that, the moon moves from Gemini into Cancer.

ARIES (March 21-April 19)

This is the perfect day to kick back and relax at home or in surroundings that make you feel good. Some of you might choose to work from home. Others will putter around doing something to make your home more attractive.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20)

Although this is a poor day to make important decisions, sign documents or volunteer for anything, it’s a great day to shmooz! Enjoy talking to siblings, relatives and neighbours, as this is a lighthearted day!

GEMINI (May 21-June 20)

The day is full of contradictions. You’re interested in finances, cash flow and shopping; however, because it’s a moon alert all day, these are things you should avoid. Instead, do your research and be ready to act tomorrow. You’ll be ahead of the game!

CANCER (June 21-July 22)

The moon is in your sign dancing with fair Venus, making you want to interact warmly with everyone. You’ll be charming and diplomatic. Others will seek out your company. Nevertheless, be aware it’s a moon alert all day!

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)

In one way you want to be low-key, but in another, you’re drawn to gatherings and keeping up with what friends are doing. This might tempt you to spend money. Try to restrict your spending to food and gas. Keep things light. (See moon alert above.)

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

You’ll enjoy shmoozing, perhaps with a female friend or colleague. Discussions about future goals might arise. Explore any idea that interests you, but commit to nothing until tomorrow.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

You’re high-viz, which is fortunate because you make an excellent impression on everyone. You might have strong ideas about politics, religion or racial issues. Whatever the case, explore the topics and get your information, but wait until tomorrow to act, as it’s a poor day for decisions.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

You’re hungry for adventure! So travel and talk to people from different backgrounds. Explore your own city if you can’t take a short trip. If you learn something new, it will stimulate you. Restrict spending to food and gas due to the moon alert.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Be careful, because the sun, the moon and Mercury retrograde are in one of your money houses, tempting you to engage in financial negotiations, discuss loans, or deal with shared property or inheritances. This would be a bad idea as it’s a moon alert all day. Forewarned is forearmed.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

This is a tricky day because both the sun and the moon are opposite your sign, which means you have to be accommodating. It’s not a big deal, but be aware of this and avoid important decisions due to the moon alert. Restrict spending to food and gas.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Your attempt to be efficient in whatever you do might be eroded by Mercury retrograde. This is a given. Just accept what’s happening and adopt a more leisurely pace. Double-check your work and postpone important decisions due to the fact it’s a moon alert all day. (Yikes.)

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)

This is a wonderful, creative day for you! Artistic people can be productive because it will be easy to think outside of the box. Social occasions and fun shmoozing will please. Enjoy time with kids as well as romantic outings. It’s a moon alert all day.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY

Actor Rachel Brosnahan (1990) shares your birthday. You’re intellectual, analytical and empathetic. People respect you. This is a slower-paced year. Take time to rejuvenate your energy. Focus on business and personal relationships, and hang out with those who are kind, helpful and have your back. Concentrate on your own needs and what brings you happiness.

Re: Carney plays well on the road (Editorial, July 14)

The editorial discusses Mark Carney’s strengths from being head of the Bank of Canada and Bank of England.

There is merit in this analysis, but it overlooks Carney’s major contribution to date. This is the simple fact he has replaced Justin Trudeau. Trudeau’s primary personal characteristic is petulance. He slapped a moral label on every issue. If you agreed with him you were amongst the virtuous, if you disagreed with him you were morally culpable and/or stupid. He polarized Canadians in a blink of an eye.

Brown goes down, so do Blue

Taylor Allen 5 minute read Yesterday at 11:10 PM CDT

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers suffered one of their most embarrassing and inexcusable losses in recent memory on Thursday night.

A one-win B.C. Lions team — featuring a rookie quarterback making his first career start, a rookie running back making his first career start and two backup offensive lineman in action — somehow, someway dealt the Blue and Gold a 35-19 defeat in front of 31,509 disgruntled fans at Princess Auto Stadium.

The Bombers, now 1-4 on home turf this season, have dropped back-to-back games to fall to 4-4. The Lions improved to 2-5.

While Kaidon Salter didn’t dazzle with his arm, the young Lions pivot played mistake-free football and was at the centre of a relentless ground attack.

Travel if possible or make plans to do so. (Admittedly, travel plans might also be interrupted.) This is also an excellent day to study, learn and make proposals related to higher education, the law or medicine. You have ideas.

BRANDON — A father has admitted in court that he purposely violated his probation order so he could be sent to the Brandon jail to support his son, who’s serving time there.

Dominic Dowan, 46, pleaded guilty to breaching a probation order from November 2024 that prohibits him from owning, possessing, carrying or converting anything into a weapon.

Crown attorney Caroline Lacey called Dowan’s reasoning for wanting to go to jail “bizarre.”

“That’s just ridiculous and honestly a waste of police time to be having to deal with someone trying to go into jail to support someone else,” Lacey said in Brandon provincial court on Thursday.
