Three security guards are facing assault charges, accused of injuring a Winnipeg Sea Bears player at a nightclub earlier this month.
Winnipeg Police Service said the three individuals, aged 35, 37 and 58, turned themselves in Wednesday and were arrested. They have been charged with assault causing bodily harm and were released on undertakings.
The charges date back to an altercation involving the guards and Sea Bears star guard Teddy Allen on Aug. 3 at the Palomino Club at Main Street and McDermot Avenue.

Allen, 28, sustained “significant health injuries” and was taken to hospital, the Canadian Elite Basketball League club said at the time.
The team released a statement from Allen Thursday addressed to his teammates, coaches, organization and fans indicating he’s out of the hospital, recovering at home and grateful for all of the support he has received.
“It will take some time, but I’m hoping to be back at it later in the fall,” he said, adding he would not go into details “right now” about his injuries.
“I’m very sorry I was unable to finish the season with the team.”
The Sea Bears host the Brampton Honey Bears at Canada Life Centre on Saturday afternoon for the league championship.
“The assault on me should never have happened nor should it happen to anyone for any reason,” Allen said in the release.
WPS spokesperson Const. Stephen Spencer said Thursday the guards surrendered in what appeared to be a pre-arranged agreement.

A video circulating online appears to capture the tail end of the incident, in which Allen was arguing with a security guard while two other guards are forcefully attempting to escort him out of the building. The end of the video shows one guard throwing a punch at Allen moments after he had been removed from the building.
Following the incident, the club said it was co-operating with the WPS investigation and had “referred them individuals and information based on what has been provided to us from those on the scene.”
Based on the approximate timing of the incident, it occurred within hours of the Sea Bears’ return to Winnipeg from their regular-season finale against the Vancouver Bandits in Langley, B.C.
