It’s a special quality that not every home possesses — a certain vibrancy that naturally draws your eye.

The 1,529-sq.-ft. bungalow at 364 Lockwood St. in River Heights north is definitely one of those homes.

“The outgoing owners have an exceptional eye for detail, and it starts with the front of the home,” says Cory Kehler of RE/MAX Executives Realty. “The landscaping is gorgeous, and the front of the home, with its Hardie board exterior, has a sharp, fresh look to it that catches your attention.”

The thoughtfully remodelled bungalow at 364 Lockwood St., River Heights North, has a sharp-looking exterior and eye-catching landscaping.

In this instance, the interplay of design elements around the front of the house — landscaping that incorporates flowers, shrubs and plants as well as low-maintenance gravel and planters — complements the grey, taupe and black exterior. Newer, white-trimmed windows pop on the paint colours, a sign that this is no ordinary residence.

That notion is confirmed the instant you step into the pleasingly spacious foyer.

“Everything in the home’s redesign was completely thought out,” Kehler says, adding that though the remodel was done in 2014, the home’s interior still has a like-new feel. “The beautifully tiled foyer gets the home off to a great start with its wonderful sense of space, style and function. It merges perfectly with original oak hardwoods in the hallway and living room.”

Kehler says the bungalow is a rare find in River Heights in two ways.

“First, there’s its size — there just aren’t many bungalows that are over 1,500 square feet. An addition was performed to the rear of the home to increase its square footage and add space and function in the form of a new kitchen, sunroom and primary bedroom.”

A spacious, tiled foyer with an elegant front door offers a warm welcome.

Second, the meticulously maintained home is chock full of modern upgrades. Though it’s 69 years old, it has a completely contemporary feel.

“It starts in the gorgeous foyer, and just continues on from there, getting better the further you go,” notes Kehler. “A prime example is the kitchen, which is part of the addition, along with another space to its rear, a three-season sunroom.”

The area is stunning — but in a practical way, of course.

“Like every other part of the home, the owners tried to think of every detail. The kitchen starts off with a huge granite island that seats two, and comes with a spacious interior that’s surrounded by custom Kitchen Craft cabinets, stainless appliances, plenty of counter space and a double sink beneath a huge picture window that’s surrounded by beautiful wallpaper.”

Next comes the cosy sunroom.

Part of a newer addition, the modern island kitchen is a great space for entertaining.

“Again, the thought behind the remodel is incredible,” he says. “An office area was set to the right of the sunroom to add function, while the luxury vinyl tile flooring looks great and is exceptionally durable. The sunroom looks out onto the amazing backyard.”

In short, it’s a picturesque, peaceful place.

“It’s fenced, surrounded by mature trees and beautifully landscaped,” says Kehler of the low-maintenance oasis. “You can step from the sunroom right out onto an elevated deck, a patio with sitting area, plus another sitting area out in the yard. There’s also a fire pit area, shed and a double detached garage with an insulated workshop.”

Step back inside and you can’t help but marvel at how inviting the living room is and the modern flair of the dining area.

“The living room flows beautifully back into the dining area, which can comfortably seat eight to 10 guests. At the same time, the linear fireplace and modern stair railing behind it look incredible. You also get a view of the island with its waterfall sides, and the modern kitchen.”

The primary bedroom is a serene place to unwind.

Then, there’s the adjacent bedroom wing, which holds a laundry room, a big secondary bedroom and the splendid primary bedroom.

“As I said earlier, it’s part of the addition to the home. With its space, big walk-in closet, extra storage space and luxurious ensuite — it features a freestanding soaker tub and a gorgeous tiled walk-in shower — it’s very rare. Few homes this age have such an amazing primary bedroom.”

The same spaciousness and attention to detail apply to the home’s lower level.

“It comes with an (insulated concrete form) foundation, which is top of the line. There’s a media area with an adjacent wet bar and gym behind it, as well as an office area, second laundry room, luxurious three-piece bath and two large bedrooms; both come with egress windows.”

Kehler says there’s no reason to buy new when you can find a resale home like 364 Lockwood.

The pristine backyard is a sanctuary of peace and privacy.

The pristine backyard is a sanctuary of peace and privacy.

“It’s essentially a new home. Great pride of ownership shows with its meticulous maintenance, and it has the functionality and style of a new home. The surroundings and location are incredible, as is the craftsmanship. All you’d need to do is move in and enjoy all it has to offer.”
