In many instances, infill homes are built as quickly as possible to maximize profit.

That certainly wasn’t the case with 766 Crescent Dr., says Scott Moore of Century 21 Bachman & Associates (The Moore Group).

“As it turned out, this home took about four years to build from start to finish,” he says of the two-storey, 3,234-sq.-ft., Nordic-inspired design, which sits pristinely on a well-treed 50- by-232-foot lot that backs onto the Red River. “This home was done the right way all the way through.”

Lavish yet logical in its design, the 3,234-sq.-ft., two-storey infill home is a joy to spend time in surrounded by amazing views, natural light and fine finishes.

Moore says the longer-than-normal time span required to complete the dwelling was down partly to regulations, partly attention to detail.

“After the old home was torn down, it was a city requirement to do all necessary work to stabilize the riverbank,” he says. “The good news is that there is now nothing to worry about on that front. Not only that, but the foundation is one hundred per cent brand-new — and the effort put into building the home the right way was second-to-none.”

Suffice it to say that degree of effort and attention to detail is evident the moment you walk up the front drive and take in the home.

Right from the get-go, rich stonework combines with acrylic stucco and gorgeous cedar posts to drive home the Nordic theme. At the same time, an angular roofline adds to the rich exterior, creating a modern esthetic.

Step inside, and your breath is taken away by the tasteful grandeur that unfolds before you in orderly, elegant fashion.

The quietly spectacular second-floor office area is a great spot for a home office or study area for the kids.

“When you walk inside, you’re literally greeted by a picture-perfect view — the gorgeous open-riser staircase that divides the front sitting area and great room — and the wall of windows behind the great room that perfectly frame the amazing river view,” Moore says. “There are no trees blocking the river view, and no homes across the river to spoil the view.”

At the same time, natural-oak engineered hardwoods provide texture and depth, while natural light floods inside through the glazed rear wall and a trio of large windows placed behind the stunning staircase.

As dazzling as the home’s design is, it’s also very practical, says Moore.

“There’s a main-floor bedroom and elegant three-piece bath to the left of the foyer, which has a 20-foot ceiling it shares with the sitting area,” he says. “The bathroom has a heated tile floor, and the bedroom is positioned perfectly to be used as a granny suite if needed.”

As it turns out, the home’s ability to wow increases the deeper you get into the dwelling.

Large windows literally surround the entire main living area, allowing natural light to stream inside while the upper-level staircase adds a touch of modern elegance.

As the great room impresses with a brick feature wall — a 3D optimizing fireplace that creates flames and light patterns utilizing mist is its calling card — the kitchen wins you over with its seamless blend of style and utility.

“Again, you get the river view through a patio door on its rear with windows either side,” Moore says. “The dining area was placed perfectly in front of the patio door, while the kitchen is absolutely gorgeous with its custom cabinets, custom hood fan, quartz countertops, brick backsplash, over-the-range pot filler, farmhouse sink, huge pantry and high-end stainless-steel appliances.”

Take the sleek staircase upstairs, and you find yet more logical luxury.

“The upper level starts with a larger-than-normal loft that comes with a linear-electric fireplace and an incredible elevated river view,” says Moore. “More natural light just pours in, and you look directly across to St. Vital Park. Really, you feel like you’re living in your own park.”

Then there’s the second floor’s layout, which creates a natural sense of separation.

The primary bedroom comes with a spectacular view, with a balcony overlooking the river that’s the perfect spot for a morning coffee.

The bedroom wing — which starts with a study/office area with built-in desk and storage — offers an elegant three-piece bath and two oversized bedrooms.

“Both bedrooms are huge and come with walk-in closets — one even has a door to a wrap-around balcony,” Moore says. “I think there will be stiff competition for that one.”

Then, there’s the primary bedroom, which is sensational in every aspect of its design.

“First, there’s the river view, which is highlighted by a sliding patio door with windows on either side,” Moore says. “The door also leads out to a balcony, which is a great spot to have coffee in the morning under the shade of large trees on its left side. Then, there’s a huge walk-in closet — and a spa-like ensuite with a heated tile floor and walk-in shower and soaker tub with a tile backdrop.”

Last — but certainly not least — there’s the home’s prime location.

“You’re next to Crescent Drive Park right across from Thermea Spa and Crescent Drive Golf Course,” says Moore. “You can go to the spa, play nine and be back home in under three hours. You know, I’ve done a lot of luxury homes over the years, but this is probably the most complete package. Absolutely no corners were cut when it was built. It’s pure, practical luxury.”
