Winnipeggers will soon be able to again browse local libraries in-person.
With the recent easing of public health COVID-19 pandemic orders, all Winnipeg Public Library branches will expand services July 26. Patrons will be able to use computers, print and photocopy material and checkout their own books.
While city libraries began their latest pandemic closure May 8, contactless pickup and return of materials had resumed May 13.
As in-person service resumes, library users are asked to keep visits short, since building capacity limits could lead some patrons to wait in a queue.
The libraries will also look different than they did pre-pandemic, with some seating and play areas removed to support physical distancing. Study tables will not be available.
Millennium Library’s ideaMILL makerspace remains closed, while class visits/tours remain on hold.
Meanwhile, magazines will be available for checkout only, and newspapers access will be limited to the digital library.
