I did a poll. An informal one, but a poll all the same.
Apparently, gardening is the most popular summer activity in Manitoba. Perhaps not always the number one choice, but according to my poll, I found that more people “garden” than any other activity. Golf fared well.
Fishing still ranks high. Camping, Folk Fest, Fringe, Folklorama… all popular, but gardening is king.
This doesn’t mean everyone who claims to garden also rates this activity as their most all-consuming pastime.
It just means thousands of people enjoy it. Gardening is also not limited to one gender or age demographic.
Men and women of all ages like growing things. Period. And I get it. Big time. I feel no shame in saying I panted tons of flowers this year and liked it. I like looking after them. I like weeding beds. There’s a real sense of satisfaction that comes from gardening. The pride people exude when describing their tomatoes.
The extreme care they take in making sure their flowers are healthy and in bloom.
Getting to see and or eat the results of your labour.
Gardening is awesome, and is also a huge deal. I support this movement. Grow Jets Grow.
