CLEBURNE, Texas — After dropping their season opener in the 10th inning on Thursday on the road against the Cleburne Railroaders, the Fish were able to notch one win in the series.
Friday: Goldeyes 6, Railroaders 4
On Friday, the Goldeyes won their first game of the 2025 season with a 6-4 decision over the Railroaders at La Moderna Field.

The Fish had fallen behind the Railroaders midway through the contest, with Cleburne sending in two runs in the bottom of the fifth. But the Goldeyes would immediately answer in the top of the sixth.
The Railroaders’ starter Blair Henley loaded the bases and gave way to reliever Austin Faith, who walked Evan Alexander — cutting the home team’s lead in half. Tanner O’Tremba then stepped to the plate, finding the outfield and scoring both Max Murphy and Matthew Warkentin to take the lead. Alexander would hustle his way around the bases scoring from first to put the Goldeyes up 4-2.
The Fish added to their lead in the seventh on a two-run double by Ray-Patrick Didder, scoring Jacob Robson and Ramon Bramasco to put the Goldeyes up 6-2.
In the bottom of the seventh Derrick Cherry allowed a two-run home run to Martin to get the Railroaders back within striking distance. Cherry went 1.2 innings and gave up just two hits.
Coming out of retirement for Winnipeg, former Detroit Tigers pitcher Zac Reininger earned a hold, going 1.2 innings without giving up a baserunner and striking out three. Veteran southpaw Tasker Strobel worked a scoreless ninth inning.
Saturday: Railroaders 5, Goldeyes 2
The Winnipeg Goldeyes would go on to drop both the third and fourth games of the series over the weekend, including giving up the lead on Saturday night.
The Railroaders fell into an early deficit in the top of the second inning when Goldeyes veteran catcher Kevin Garcia collected his first hit of the 2025 season, driving in Murphy and O’Tremba to a take a 2-0 lead.
In the bottom of the second, Cleburne cut the deficit in half with an Andres Sosa single.
The Railroaders would take over in the bottom of the seventh. A base hit by Cleburne’s Aaron Altherr brought home Lamar Sparks and put runners at the corners. A double by Martin brought in Dustin Peterson and Altherr, giving the Railroaders a 5-2 lead and the win.
Sunday: Railroaders 6, Goldeyes 5
In the final game of the season-opening series, the Railroaders hung on to defeat the Goldeyes. Cleburne opened the scoring in the bottom of the first on a single to right field by Steven Rivas that drove in first baseman Martin.
The Fish tied the game at the top of the second inning, with catcher Sosa bringing Murphy home.
The Goldeyes took the lead at the top of the fifth, when Bramasco brought Robson in to score all the way from first base.
The Railroaders would go on to score three times in the bottom of the sixth and would add two more to their lead in the bottom of the seventh.
Winnipeg punched back in both the eighth and ninth innings, with Sosa driving in Alexander before O’Tremba drove in Robson and Murphy, cutting the deficit to one run. However, Cleburne would hold on for the win, ending the game with the Fish’s tying run at second base.
The Goldeyes continue their road trip tonight as they take on the Kansas City Monarchs with the first pitch of the three-game series at 6:35 p.m. CT.
