No sweet-talking PST hike

There's no way the Manitoba NDP government can "hone its message" about the PST hike after the fact (NDP messaging on PST hike finally on track, Mar. 6). There was no referendum carried out as required and there's just no sweet-talking their way out of it.

There’s no way the Manitoba NDP government can “hone its message” about the PST hike after the fact (NDP messaging on PST hike finally on track, Mar. 6). There was no referendum carried out as required and there’s just no sweet-talking their way out of it.

If they had explained their plan at the outset, the PST hike might have been accepted by the majority.

Do we need improved provincial infrastructure? Yes, obviously. If the government had made this the focus of a referendum, along with detailed plans for spending the PST, we could have avoided all this recrimination, and the referendum would have likely passed.
