Business owners in heavy construction and northern flight are among the recipients of the annual Manitoba Champions Awards.
The honours, presented yearly by the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce, recognize entrepreneurs that move the province forward through two categories: the Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for Outstanding Contribution to the Community, and the Manitoba Champion Awards, which are nominated by other business leaders.
Colleen Munro, CEO and president of Munro Group, and airline Calm Air are the 2026 recipients of the Lieutenant Governor’s Awards.
Munro is an established business owner and has succeeded as an entrepreneur and innovator in the male-dominated field of heavy construction, the chambers said in a release Thursday, while Calm Air serves as a lifeline to 22 small and large communities throughout the North.
“This year’s recipients represent the very best of Manitoba, leaders whose impact extends far beyond their industries to build a stronger, more competitive, and more inclusive future for our province,” Chuck Davidson, chambers president and CEO, said in the release.
The 2025 Manitoba Champion Award recipients are:
— 6P Marketing (based in Winnipeg);
— Decor Cabinets LTD. (Morden);
— Dreamcatcher Promotions (Winnipeg);
— HyLife (Steinbach);
— Lakehouse Properties (Riding Mnt. National Park);
— mode40 (Steinbach);
— North Forge (Winnipeg);
— Penn-co Construction (Steinbach);
— PhiBer Manufacturing (Crystal City);
— U Multicultural (based in Winnipeg).
The Manitoba Chambers of Commerce said the businesses were nominated by industry peers “for their dedication to creating opportunities, inspiring progress, and shaping the character of Manitoba communities.”
“At a time of global uncertainty, Manitoba is incredibly fortunate to have remarkable leaders, innovators, and community champions,” said Davidson.
Manitoba Champions recipients will receive their awards May 12 at Club Regent Event Centre. The Lieutenant Governor’s Award recipients will be celebrated May 21 at a ceremony and reception hosted by Lt. Gov. Anita Neville at Government House.
