Hey there, time traveller!

A pair of widely expected trades by the Wenatchee Wild dropped on Thursday and they were doozies.
Conor Geekie of Strathclair, 19, was shipped to the Swift Current Broncos for 17-year-old defenceman Josh Fluker of Boissevain, 17-year-old forward Maddix McCagherty, 18-year-old defenceman Sam Ward, a first-round pick in 2025, a second-round pick in 2025, a first-round pick in 2026 and a seventh-round pick in 2027.
Meanwhile, the Moose Jaw Warriors acquired 19-year-old forward Matthew Savoie for a package of picks that includes a first-round pick in 2024, a third-round pick in 2024, a sixth-round pick in 2024, an eighth-round pick in 2025, a second-round pick in 2026, a first-round pick in 2027 and a fourth-round pick in 2027.

Both played with Canada at the world junior championship in Sweden.
Wenatchee (23-13-3-0) is second in the Western Conference, but after the team traded much of its future draft capital for unsuccessful playoff runs in 2022 and 2023 in its previous incarnation as the Winnipeg Ice, it desperately needed to recoup some assets.
In another major pickup, the Washington Capitals reassigned 19-year-old forward Alexander Suzdalev from Mora IK in Sweden’s HockeyAllsvenskan to the Saskatoon Blades. He is currently skating with Sweden at the world junior championship. The Blades picked up his rights in a deal with the Regina Pats on Sunday.
The trade deadline is Jan. 10.
