Statistics, media, and public opinion

How numbers are represented in media has an effect on our perception of facts.

Intro Activity Length: 10 - 15 minutes

After viewing the video, ask students to conduct a poll. This could be something related to their subject area learning, or something else. Allow the students to each decide the topic of their poll. This could be done as individuals who move about the class gathering data, in small groups, or as a whole class by raising hands. Once the students have collected their data, have them use it along with a news story as they participate in learning activities.
