Mila Wright is an eight-year-old Grade 2 student at Tyndall Park Community School, and she really enjoys school.
“My favourite class is physical education because we get to run around and get our energy out,” she explained. “We play a lot of fun games. Trying a lot of different sports is fun too.”
Mila is known by her family as being a little girl who lights up a room when she walks in.

Mila Wright is an active eight year old who takes part in the Mighty Kips program at Keystone Kips Gymnastics Club.
Given her answer to my question about her favourite class, it doesn’t surprise me to hear that Mila is often giggling and will randomly do backflips, making everyone smile. She said she really enjoys being active, and her parents make sure she has an outlet.
“I play softball and I am in gymnastics,” Mila said. “I am most focused on gymnastics. I really like gymnastics, because I love doing backflips and learning new moves. My coaches are really nice and they help me learn new moves and tricks. I have a lot of friends at Keystone Kips Gymnastics Club. We have a lot of fun together.”
Mila is enrolled in the Mighty Kips program at Keystone Kips. It is a pre-competitive gymnastics program designed to help young athletes become very comfortable with foundational skills that will help them transition into competitive gymnastics.
“I really like the in-house fun meets we have.,” Mila said. “We all have a lot of fun with all of our families cheering us on. I have learned a lot – like squat-on jumps and round offs. It is a lot of fun and all of us burn off a lot of energy!”
Mila and her dad Chris, mom Melissa, and brother Liam live in north Winnipeg.
“I have the greatest parents ever,” she said. “They spoil me! Oh, and I really love my little brother. I like to help take care of him whenever he needs help.”
Mila is excited to keep on learning and having fun with her gymnastics and other sports.
She has this advice to offer to all athletes:
“Keep trying and never give up!”
