East Winnipeg school patrols recognized

The Winnipeg Police Service recently announced its annual school safety patrol awards.
Every year, patrol groups across Winnipeg are judged on their ability, professionalism and technique while on patrol by the School Engagement Section of the Winnipeg Police Service. In 2026, there were approximately 7,000 student patrols across the city.
The city-wide award winning schools are as follows:
1st Place – Clifton School (1070 Clifton St.);
2nd Place – Montrose School (691 Montrose St.);
3rd Place – Maple Leaf School (251 McIvor Ave.); and
4th Place – James Nisbet Community School (70 Doubleday Dr.).
Nathan Unrau from École Voyageur (37 Voyageur Ave.) won the Louise Staples Award as top school patrol captain in the city.
Divisional awards were also handed out to the top three schools from each of the city’s school division.
Louis Riel School Division
1 – Highbury School (99 Highbury Rd.);
2 – École Marie-Anne Gaboury (95 Pulberry St.); and
3 – Samuel Burland School (192 Burland Ave.).
River East Transcona School Division
1 – Maple Leaf School (251 McIvor Ave.);
2 – Bertrun E. Glavin School (166 Antrim Rd.); and
3 – Emerson School (323 Emerson Ave.).
Division Scolaire Franco-Manitobaine
1 – École Tache (744 Langevin St.);
2 – École Précieux-Sang (209 Kenny St.); and
3 – École Lacerte (1101 Autumnwood Dr.).
