Making care more accessible in The Maples

As we head into the summer, many families in our community are looking forward to spending time outdoors and making the most of warmer weather. At the same time, our NDP government knows that health concerns don’t take the season off.
That is why I want to share an important new tool that is helping Manitobans get the care they need when they need it. Medinav is a simple and convenient way to skip the emergency room for non-emergency concerns and book an appointment with a healthcare provider.
Using Medinav is quick and straightforward. Here is how you can sign up and book an appointment:
• Visit Medinav.ca and create an account.
• Set up a patient profile for yourself or a family member using your Manitoba Health card.
• Click “Book Appointment” and enter the reason for your visit.
• Review the available appointments and choose the time and location that works best for you.
Whether it is an evening, weekend, or even a holiday, Medinav helps connect you to available care options right at your fingertips. The tool can book appointments at extended hours primary care clinics, minor injury and illness clinics, and quick care clinics in Winnipeg and beyond, making it easier than ever to find care when you need it.
I have been hearing from many families in our community about how challenging it can be to find time for appointments while balancing work, child care, and busy summer schedules. Medinav is especially helpful for parents who need flexible options for their children, without having to spend hours waiting in an emergency room for non-urgent concerns.
This is also an important step in ensuring that our emergency rooms remain available for those who need urgent and life-saving care. By helping Manitobans access the right care in the right place, Medinav is reducing pressure on our hospitals while improving access across the system.
While we know there is more work to do as we continue rebuilding our healthcare system, tools such as Medinav are already making a real difference. Our NDP government is focused on making healthcare more accessible and investing in modern solutions like this is one way we are delivering on that commitment.
Here in The Maples and across our province, I will continue working to ensure families have the support and services they need to stay healthy and thrive.
As always, I would love to hear from you. Whether you have questions, concerns, or would like me to attend a local event, please don’t hesitate to reach out. You can call us at 204-417-3486 or email me at mintu.sandhu@yourmanitoba.ca.
