Looking ahead to support St. James

Looking ahead at the new year, I’m feeling energized and grateful for the conversations I’ve shared with so many neighbours across St. James. Spending time in our community, whether at summer barbecues, seniors’ gatherings, or door‑to‑door visits, remains one of the best parts of this job.
These conversations continue to guide my work at the legislature, ensuring that the priorities of St. James families are front and center. In the months ahead, I’m committed to deepening those connections.
Discussions about safety in our neighbourhood, improving affordability, or building a stronger health care system help shape decisions that have a real impact.

St. James MLA Adrien Sala reads to students as part of I Love to Read Month 2025.
To facilitate more of these conversations, I’m looking forward to hosting an open house at my constituency office, located at E-1885 Portage Ave., on Saturday, Feb. 7. We’ll have fruit and light refreshments on hand to welcome community members from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in addition to our regular office hours during the week.
February also brings one of my favourite annual traditions – I Love to Read Month. Each year, I look forward to visiting classrooms across St. James to share stories, celebrate creativity, and support the incredible work of our teachers and school staff.
Reading with students is always a highlight. Encouraging a love of books not only strengthens literacy skills but helps build the confident, imaginative leaders of tomorrow. Just as importantly, these visits remind our next generation of young people that their voices, ideas, and perspectives matter, both in school and in our democracy.
In the new year, I’ll continue showing up in schools, community centres, and at your doors to listen and learn. St. James is a wonderfully diverse community, home to families, newcomers, seniors, and students who all contribute to the vibrant neighbourhood we share.
Supporting that diversity – through community programs, public safety investments, and accessible services – remains at the heart of my work.
As always, my constituency office is here to help. If you have questions, concerns, or ideas about how we can strengthen our community, I’d love to hear from you. You can reach us by emailing adrien.sala@yourmanitoba.ca, or by phone at 204-792-8779. Together, we can make 2026 a year of progress, connection, and opportunity for everyone who calls St. James home.
