Working hard to serve Transcona

It has been a busy fall working to serve the people of Transcona.
I’m proud to share some exciting updates which reflect our government’s continued commitment to strengthening health care and community in Transcona and across Manitoba.
Earlier this year, we announced a $72-million investment to build a 90-bed expansion at Park Manor Personal Care Home in Transcona. Many of the residents at Park Manor currently live in semi-private or four-bed rooms. This expansion will add 90 private rooms, allowing more seniors to live with dignity and comfort while receiving the care they deserve.
This project will mark an important milestone in our government’s work to build long-term care across Manitoba. Adding 90 new beds in Transcona increases access to care for local families and strengthens capacity across the province. I want to extend a huge thank you to the partners, families, and community members who helped make this vision possible.
We also continue to deliver on our promise to staff-up the health-care system. I am thrilled to share that 80 new health-care workers have joined the team at Concordia Hospital. They are part of the more than 3,400 net new health-care workers added across the province since October 2023. This includes over 1,100 nurses, 1,400 healthcare aides, and nearly 300 doctors.
We’ve also added an extended primary care clinic at Concordia to help residents access care faster and closer to home. We’re working with front-line workers to rebuild our health-care system, reopen hospital beds, and shorten wait times for families across Manitoba.
I’m also pleased to highlight the Transcona Food Security Network, which works to ensure everyone in our community has access to food and essential services. This dedication and collaboration truly reflect the spirit of Transcona, and I’m proud to continue supporting their work.
Last, I would like to give a special shout out to those who advocated for the clean-up of the damage caused by the explosion on Camrose Bay. This is something community members have been calling for since 2024.
Together, we’re building a healthier, more caring Manitoba— one that honours our past, invests in our future, and listens to the people who make our communities strong.
