Lincoln Jeter Bowie is an eight-year-old Grade 2 student at École Springfield Heights School and an aspiring baseball player.
“I am mostly focused on baseball. Like all the other sports I like, it is fun and it gives me good exercise,” he said. “I used to play for the Elmwood Giants, now I am playing for the Gateway Flyers. Our coaches are really good, and I like our team. We have a good group of players.”
“I have played all the positions in baseball. My favourite position though is backcatcher,” he said, then went on to explain why.

Lincoln Jeter Bowie loves to play most sports, especially basketball and baseball.
“I like how the whole game is in front of you and how I am involved on every pitch. I like the relationship between the catcher and the pitcher. I also like the different defensive things I do as a backcatcher,” he said.
While he’s enjoying baseball, Lincoln said he has a lot of fun playing pretty much all sports.
“I haven’t played hockey yet on a team. I hope one day I can try that,” he said. “Right now, I play mostly basketball and baseball.
Lincoln spends time in the Harbourview South part of town with his dad Ian, and his dad’s girlfriend Chelsea. When Lincoln is with his mom Misty and stepdad Mike, he is in St. Vital. Lincoln has brothers Easton and Alex, and sisters Hailey and Gianna.
Like most sports-minded kids his age, Lincoln says his favourite class at school is “gym.”
“School is going pretty good,” he said. “Gym is a lot of fun, and I really enjoy the activities we do. I like being active, playing sports, and having fun.”
This baseball season, Lincoln is dedicated to studying the game and working hard to get better at baseball. His ultimate goal is to one day play pro baseball.
I can hear it now over the speakers at Blue Cross Park…
“Next up to the plate for the Goldeyes is Winnipeg’s very own homegrown sensation… Lincoln Jeter Bowie!”
Lincoln is ready to go achieve his ultimate dream. He has this piece of advice for all athletes out there:
“Have fun and work hard.”
